Getting Here and Useful Links
Here are some useful links and information to help with your transport to the islands and planning your trip in general.
You have decided to visit the islands whether by train www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk or driving down, you will eventually be leaving your transport behind on the mainland, and experiencing the unique travel options to the Isles of Scilly, either by the Skybus plane or the Scillionian 111 boat.
When you arrive in Penzance for your journey by Skybus a minibus will meet your train (please note you will need to organise this pickup service and your return pickup back to the train station when you book your flights), it will take 20 minutes to get to Lands End Airport. If you prefer to make your own way there are plenty of taxis outside the train station.
If you are travelling by Scillionian 111 boat the quay is just a 5-10 minute walk from the train station, if you need to make arrangements for an overnight stay in Penzance we can recommend several good quality guest houses that we ourselves have stayed in.
When you arrive at St Mary’s Heliport a white Skybus minivan meets every flight and will do door to door service for a small charge just tell them your destination is Tolman House they will also arrange return pickup with you.
Scillionian: If your choice is to travel by the Scillionian 111 boat call 0845 7105555 or e-mail www.ios-travel.co.uk (this is a great way to relax and watch the world go by). The Scillionian sails from Penzance quay at 9.15 am and takes approximately 2 and a half hours to reach the islands arriving at St Mary’s quay in Hugh Town at noon. Please clearly label your luggage Tolman House and Island Carriers will deliver it to our door for a small charge which you can pay them during your stay and organise your return pickup for your luggage.
The Scillionian departs St Mary’s Quay at 4.30pm and arrives back in Penzance after 7pm. Times may change depending on tides.
This is a daily service from end of March to beginning of November.
